Tia Revolutionizes Women’s Healthcare with Nabla’s AI Assistant

Tia, a leading women’s health clinic, has officially integrated Nabla’s AI assistant into its clinical workflow, significantly reducing administrative tasks for healthcare providers.

Nabla, an advanced ambient AI technology designed for clinicians, has partnered with Tia after a highly successful two-month pilot program. This collaboration aims to improve patient-centered care by alleviating clinical burnout and cutting down the time spent on medical documentation, whether in-person or virtual.

The Need for Innovation in Women’s Healthcare

Tia’s Women’s Integrated Primary Care 2024 Outcomes Report revealed that nearly 50% of women aged 18-35 have had negative experiences with healthcare providers. These challenges contribute to increased mental health concerns, reduced life expectancy, and insufficient midlife care. Women of color and LGBTQIA+ individuals are particularly affected due to systemic biases and barriers in healthcare access.

To address this, Tia has introduced a groundbreaking Primary Care ‘Plus’ model, which merges reproductive health, primary care, mental wellness, and preventive health services. A key feature of this initiative is relational care, which prioritizes active listening and shared decision-making between patients and providers. However, excessive documentation requirements have traditionally interfered with this approach, diverting attention away from patients.

How AI is Enhancing Clinical Efficiency

Tia’s co-founder and CEO, Felicity Yost, emphasized the importance of improving provider-patient interactions. “We want our providers to feel inspired and connected to their patients, not burdened by administrative work. Nabla’s AI has given them back valuable time to focus on patient care while upholding our commitment to gender equity and personalized treatment.”

During the pilot phase, 30 Tia providers across seven specialties—including gynecology, psychiatry, acupuncture, and preventive care—tested Nabla’s AI technology. The results were striking: clinical note submission time was reduced by 50%. Encouraged by these findings, Tia rapidly expanded Nabla’s deployment across all its clinics, integrating the AI solution into both virtual and in-person consultations. Currently, over 90 providers are actively using Nabla, generating more than 50,000 clinical notes.

Tackling Bias in AI-Powered Healthcare

Nabla acknowledges that gender bias is not only present in clinical interactions but is also embedded in many digital health technologies. AI-driven innovations, such as chatbots and AI assistants, have been designed to enhance patient experiences. However, many existing systems fall short in addressing critical care gaps, often amplifying racial and gender disparities due to biased training data.

“Bias in healthcare technology is a serious issue,” stated Delphine Groll, Co-Founder and COO of Nabla. “From the beginning, we have ensured our AI training datasets include diverse genders, accents, and languages to minimize biases in clinical documentation. Additionally, our evaluation process rigorously checks for any misinterpretations, particularly those influenced by gender biases.”

The integration of AI into healthcare continues to evolve, and companies like Nabla and Tia are setting a precedent for how AI-driven automation can improve patient access and provider efficiency. By leveraging AI responsibly, the healthcare industry can bridge critical gaps and enhance outcomes for diverse patient populations.

The Future of AI in Women’s Health

Tia’s partnership with Nabla marks a major step forward in the use of AI to enhance women’s healthcare. By reducing administrative burdens and allowing providers to focus on patients, this technology-driven approach sets a new standard for the integration of AI in clinical settings.

With AI playing an increasingly significant role in healthcare, it is crucial to ensure that innovation remains inclusive, unbiased, and patient-focused. The success of Nabla’s AI assistant at Tia serves as a compelling example of how technology can be harnessed to create meaningful improvements in medical care.
