Adrianus Warmenhoven, cybersecurity advisor at NordVPN, highlighted the dangers of training AI on unmoderated data from X. “Unlike curated sources, X lacks structured fact-checking, increasing the risk of AI systems perpetuating misinformation, bias, or harmful content.”
This concern echoes a broader worry in the AI space about how to ensure models are built on accurate and ethical foundations. For example, neurodivergent perspectives are increasingly being recognized as vital in shaping more responsible, inclusive AI systems.

Elvia Finalle, a senior security analyst at Omdia, urged caution, noting that “we need clear boundaries about what data is accessible and how it’s used.”
She also noted that the merger is part of a larger industry trend of AI integration, similar to moves made by giants like Microsoft and Google. Still, she emphasized the importance of transparency and user consent in such transitions.

For now, users concerned about their data can make their accounts private or adjust privacy settings. However, Warmenhoven criticized this approach, arguing that the responsibility shouldn’t fall solely on individuals. “Privacy should be a straightforward, informed choice—not buried in fine print or hidden settings,” he said.
