Viam Secures $30 Million Series C Funding to Drive Global Expansion

Viam Raises $30 Million in Series C Funding to Boost AI and Automation

Viam, a leading engineering platform specializing in AI, data, and automation, has successfully secured $30 million in Series C funding. The investment round was led by Union Square Ventures, with contributions from Battery Ventures, Neurone, and other existing investors.

The new funding brings Viam’s total capital raised to $117 million, further solidifying its position in the AI and automation landscape. Eliot Horowitz, Viam’s Founder and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the continued support from Union Square Ventures and the new partnership with European investment group Neurone. “We’re excited to strengthen our presence in Europe and leverage this funding to accelerate our global growth,” he stated.

Expanding AI Integration Across Industries

In 2024, Viam significantly expanded its client base, with applications spanning robotics, quick-service restaurants, climate technology, marine industries, and industrial manufacturing. A notable achievement was its partnership with the New York Islanders and UBS Arena, where Viam became the Official AI Technology Partner. The company’s software is now integrated into various aspects of the arena’s fan experience.

In the marine sector, Viam has collaborated with well-known manufacturers like Viking Yachts and launched a pilot program with Kongsberg Discovery, a branch of the KONGSBERG Group, to implement AI-driven sonar solutions for the fishing industry. Other prominent clients include Sbarro, Swiss nuclear engineering firm Transmutex, autonomous kitchen robotics company Appetronix, and safety tech platform CompScience.

Strengthening Presence in Europe with Neurone

Neurone, a European investment group, joined the funding round alongside existing backers. Viam is already making significant strides in Europe by working with leading manufacturers and marine technology firms. Neurone’s investors include influential Italian industrial leaders such as Camozzi Group, Enzo Mattioli Ferrari (Ferrari and HPE), Luca Pretto (Pasubio’s founder), and Wellness Holding (Alessandri Family). With Neurone’s support, Viam aims to deepen its presence in Italy’s industrial sector.

“Italy’s industrial leaders are actively shaping the future of technology in manufacturing,” said Teodoro D’Ambrosio, Founder and Partner at Neurone. “Viam is bridging the gap between AI and the real-world applications of smart hardware, much like how Android revolutionized mobile technology.”

Revolutionizing AI-Driven Engineering

Viam’s platform enables hardware and software engineers to collaborate effectively, creating innovative solutions for smart devices and automated machinery. Established in 2020 by Eliot Horowitz, former co-founder and CTO of MongoDB, the company has rapidly gained traction in the AI-driven engineering space.

This latest round of funding follows Viam’s successful Series B raise in March 2024, indicating strong investor confidence in the company’s vision and execution.

With AI and automation becoming increasingly critical in various industries, Viam is well-positioned to lead the next wave of technological transformation.
