Hexagon has officially launched a dedicated Robotics division, aiming to redefine autonomy across multiple industries by harnessing its leadership in AI, spatial intelligence, and advanced measurement technologies.
A Strategic Leap Toward Autonomous Robotics
The newly formed division is designed to accelerate the development of autonomous robotic systems that can expertly navigate complex environments and perform sophisticated tasks. This move comes as industries face increasing pressure to overcome workforce shortages and aging labor populations.
Hexagon’s vast experience in precision measurement and sensor technologies positions it uniquely to support robotic evolution. By combining spatial intelligence and digital twin capabilities, the company provides the tools necessary for robots to perceive, learn, and interact with their environment intelligently.
Building on a Legacy of Innovation
“Robotics has long been a core driver of innovation at Hexagon,” said Norbert Hanke, interim President and CEO. “From drones used in construction to autonomous vehicles in agriculture and mining, we’ve consistently developed robotic innovations. This new division allows us to scale that expertise and deliver solutions that align with the evolving needs of the global workforce.”
The division will target key markets such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy, logistics, and warehousing—sectors where automation is not just beneficial but critical for long-term sustainability and efficiency.
Leadership with a Vision
Arnaud Robert has been appointed President of the new Robotics division. A seasoned strategic executive with over 25 years of experience across six industries, Robert specializes in AI-driven innovation. He holds a PhD in computer science from the Swiss Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), owns more than a dozen patents, and has earned several prestigious industry accolades.
“Hexagon’s expertise in positioning and measurement gives us a distinct edge in the rapidly expanding robotics market,” said Robert. “I’m excited to work with our global team to develop next-gen autonomous solutions that combine cutting-edge AI and robotics.”
As President, Robert will oversee research and development, product strategy, operations, partnerships, sales, and customer support. He will report directly to Norbert Hanke and join the company’s Executive Management team.
Pushing Boundaries in Industrial Robotics
With the demand for automation surging, Hexagon’s initiative comes at a time when organizations are increasingly looking for advanced, scalable robotics solutions. The company’s ability to fuse AI with spatial awareness is expected to deliver robots that are not only autonomous but also intelligent and adaptive to real-world challenges.
This strategic move complements broader trends in AI infrastructure and intelligent automation, echoing similar industry efforts such as Microsoft and Parsec’s recent launch of TrakSYS IQ to revolutionize smart manufacturing through generative AI.
As the robotics landscape continues to evolve, Hexagon’s new division is poised to become a transformational force, delivering innovation that empowers industries to operate more efficiently, intelligently, and sustainably.
